For more than 20 years I have run Clarity (http://www.claritywritingexperts.com) writing speeches, editing reports and conducting workshops for clients in the public and private sectors.
Since 2002, I have been conducting humanist ceremonies – weddings, funerals and baby namings. I qualified as a mediator in 2009. In 2019, I gained a certificate in Pastoral Care, and worked for two years as a chaplain in hospitals and prisons in and around London.
I am a former journalist (staffer on The Daily Telegraph and The Times; assistant editor of The Week 1995-2004) and author of several books, notably Tories (Mainstream 1991) and The Right Way to Write (Piatkus 1998). From May 2018 to July 2021, I was Chair of the National Liberal Club (http://www.nlc.org.uk).
I am married, with two stepchildren and four grandchildren. In November 2020, Kitty and I moved to France, just beating the Brexit deadline. We are now French residents, hoping to make frequent trips to the UK, US and elsewhere as Covid restrictions permit.
